Due to holidays over the last few weeks progress of the project has been limited. However the welding and panel repairs are now coming to an end. The boot floor and rear quarters have been made up and spot welded in place. Like the original we have butt welded the quarters to the boot floor panel prior to fitting to the body. Restoration of the bonnet continues with the fitting of the original wings, repairs will have to be done around the headlight aperture and bottom of the wings adjacent to the bonnet locks. |

Welding and panel repairs are nearly completed we hope to be able to begin lead loading towards the end of next week. The body repairs have been somewhat more extensive than we first thought, originally we estimated 700 hours to get the body into a position ready for painting by the time we are ready for paint the actual hours will be over 900. We were hoping to be able to save the front wings, unfortunately they were just too thin therefore we have had to obtain two new wings from Jaguar which will need to be altered and modified. The engine is now completely dismantled and the block has been carefully cleaned and will be sent for machining etc next week.

We are fitting the bumpers to the bonnet at the moment to get a perfect gap. We are also making the front bumpers, as they were when the car carried out the speed trials in that they did not have any overiders to reduce the drag. From various photographs showing the original car we have made an educated guess at how Jaguar manufactured the originals. Tops of the door skins have been spot welded into place and the original rear lights have been fitted to the car. |
