Body repairs continue. Now that the doorframes have been repaired and hung on the car, a new door skin has been manufactured and fitted to the left-hand door. The chrome doorframe has been fitted into the door and we are now getting the correct gaps across the sill, up the A post, B post and across the cant rail. Further update next week. |

Door on the right hand side of car has been hung and gapped as left side last week. The outer sills have been spot welded in place and the engine frames are now being fitted. The bonnet centre section fitted to the car had obviously been replaced at some time due to accident damage therefore the bonnet louvers are having to be changed to the original inset type, (see photo). |

Body restoration continues. Having removed the top of the front scuttle we have found further extensive corrosion to the A posts on both side of the car (see photos). The tailgate has been stripped and cleaned, as we already knew it had been hand made in aluminium (see photo). Difficult to see in the photo but the contour of the panel from side to side is quite different. Just now we are dismantling the engine, no surprises or interesting details found. 9600HP had 3 engines during its time with Jaguar and the final engine fitted, which we are now stripping, is a standard production unit. The engine will be rebuilt to a high performance specification like the first engine fitted to the car as we are hoping to replicate the original speed trials to achieve that magical 150mph. Now that the project is well under way, and there is a lot to see, we invite any Jaguar enthusiasts who would like to visit to give us a call and arrange a convenient time. |
